There are eight towers of the castle, eight sides, eight rooms on the first and second floors. For Castel del Monte, the number 8 is a constant, an obsession. And thus, it deserves its position at number 8 in our ranking.

The Abbey of San Galgano is located a few dozen kilometers from Siena. Unfortunately, this monastic abbey is almost completely ruined.
