Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands archipelago and also the most urbanized. It offers many natural beauties: notably the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the third largest volcano in the world. The beaches are wonderful and the water is crystal clear.

September is the ideal month to visit Tenerife: temperatures are excellent, still warm but not muggy, and there are also many cultural and religious events: in El Socorro (Güímar), the fiestas del Socorro are held until September 15, while in Los Silos, the Festival of Light runs until September 24. 2 - Lisbon, Portugal

In Lisbon, September temperatures are very pleasant, and the city is extremely fascinating historically: just consider the ancient acropolis containing the Castelo de São Jorge, or the Monastery of Jerónimos and the Belém Tower.

For several years, in September, the Gay Cinema Festival takes place, a quite unique and daring event. Moreover, Lisbon is an excellent destination from a gastronomic point of view, with a truly remarkable seafood cuisine. If that's not enough, for surf lovers... as we know, Portugal is the Mecca for surfers! See also: What to absolutely see in Lisbon

3 - Western Sicily, Italy

Sicily often has prohibitive prices during the peak season: therefore, it can be considered an ideal destination for those who wish to go to a warm place in September.

Western Sicily offers a wide variety of vacation types: from the beautiful sea to the visit of historical and archaeological sites, like the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento or the historic centers of various cities.

There are many September festivals, including the Cous Cous Fest in San Vito Lo Capo. Additionally, it's the harvest season, so a tour of the wineries takes on a special charm. See also: Most beautiful beaches in Western Sicily

4 - Rhodes, Greece

After the crowd of August, September is the perfect month to visit the Greek island of Rhodes: here too, stunning sea, superb beaches, and good food complement an island rich in history and with a vibrant nightlife. Speaking of food, we recommend dining in the island's restaurants rather than in villages or hotels, as the quality is definitely higher and the choice is more authentic.

On September 27, Tourism Day is celebrated with concerts, dances, and fireworks. See also: Rhodes, Greece: where it is, when to go and what to see

5 - Malta

Malta is one of the favorite September destinations for many Europeans, but not only. Developed on an archipelago in Southern Europe, it boasts 3 UNESCO sites: the capital Valletta, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, and the megalithic temples.

September brings a significant drop in prices, which in high season align with other popular seaside destinations, while in this month they are quite affordable. The archipelago is tremendously enjoyable, ideal for those who love a cultural vacation as well as for those who seek beaches, sea, and boat excursions. Furthermore, various important festivals and concerts such as the TA' MARIJA Folklore Dinner Show take place in September. See also: What to see in Malta

6 - Barcelona, Spain

And now we return to Spain, this time to suggest a historic city that is very lively and interesting from a tourist point of view: we are obviously talking about Barcelona, which, with its Sagrada Familia, La Rambla, museums, and markets, attracts millions of visitors each year.

In September, the beautiful patronal festival of La Mercè takes place, with a long series of organized events such as fire-breathing dragon displays, a parade of giant statues, and human towers. See also: What to see in Barcelona

Known as the "Hawaii of Europe", they are one of the most pristine paradises on the planet. An archipelago of 9 islands in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Portugal, all of volcanic origin. The main island, Sao Miguel, has an airport (it's about 8-10 hours flight from Rome). Here you can hike in nature, through waterfalls, lakes, natural parks, and of course, dream beaches. Don't miss the Sete Lagos, seven natural lakes with waterfalls, the sulfur fumaroles of Furnas, and a hike on Pico Volcano. It is also possible to organize cruises around the islands, but costs are certainly not cheap. See also: Azores: where they are, when to go and what to see

Croatia is an "accessible" destination for Italians. The distance is short, connections are frequent, and costs are manageable. Its rugged coast is rich in dreamy islets, perfect for a September full of beaches and sea. From those more famous for nightlife and young people, like Pag, Krk, and Hvar, to somewhat more eclectic destinations suitable for a more adult audience, like Split, Dubrovnik, and Vis. There is no need to look for paradise outside your front door. Puglia is one of the most beautiful regions in the world for those seeking a sun and sea vacation. September is an ideal time since the August crowd begins to thin out, and beaches and cities become more enjoyable. Here, there is plenty to choose from: from the Salento region to the Gargano coast, with a succession of natural parks, beaches, natural pools, and postcard villages. The Lecce area, in Salento, with Torre dell'Orso, Porto Cesareo, and the famous "Cave of Poetry"; while on the Gargano side, there are wilder landscapes, with places like Porto Greco, Baia dei Campi, and Peschici. Do not underestimate the prices, which are accessible in September, and the Apulian cuisine: does it seem like little? See also: What to See in Puglia: 10 Places to Visit Absolutely!

We stay in Europe for a super chic destination. Nice, in southern France, not far from our Liguria, has a unique and inimitable charm. Nestled in one of Europe's most beautiful coasts, between Sanremo, Cannes, and Saint-Tropez, it is a destination for everyone: couples seeking romance, families who don't want to miss any comforts, and young people looking for fun and nightlife! Nice knows how to be all this: the city is delightful, the beaches are well-equipped, and public transport is incredibly efficient.

What about prices? Despite its fame, it's not as expensive as it seems. Accommodation is abundant with small family-run hotels and B&Bs, so it won't be hard to find some pretty good offers in September! See also: what to see in Nice

The Republic of Namibia, located in southern Africa, has a territory that largely coincides with the Namib Desert and the Kalahari Desert. Even in September, many tour operators organize excursions in the Namib Desert, often known as "Safari tours" because they also include visits to the Etosha National Park, a true treasure trove of animal and plant biodiversity. A safari for ten days costs about $2,000 per person. For those who love to visit cities, a tour of the capital Windhoek is a must.

In September, the climate is quite dry, so precipitation is scarce. The official language is English, which will facilitate communication. See also: safari in Namibia - prices, when to go and where to go

2 - Morocco, Africa

We turn back to Africa and talk about Morocco, a place very close to us and reachable in a short time by plane. Morocco offers at the same time the possibility to enjoy different types of vacation: the north is rich for excursions among mountains and rivers for those who want to experience excursions without enduring the often suffocating heat of August; the south has the vast Sahara Desert; the beaches have locations like Agadir, Safi, Casablanca, and Rabat. Finally, its symbol Marrakech and the imperial cities.

Among the most important cultural events in Morocco is the Oasis Festival, which takes place around the middle of the month in Marrakech. See also: Things to see in Morocco: imperial cities, attractions, and itineraries

For those who wish to travel outside of Europe, Bali is a September destination to consider: the island, one of the most famous in Indonesia, offers stunning landscapes, along with memorable beaches and clear seas. Bali is also home to some of the most beautiful temples in Indonesia, such as the Tanah Lot and Uluwatu. Don't miss the famous rice terraces of Ubud and Tegallalang, the water gardens, and of course, the most beautiful beaches.

If you want to have a tourist experience, you might consider Seminyak, in northern Bali, one of the main leisure spots on the island. Flight prices are influential, but aside from that, the cost of living in Bali is very inexpensive, with beach dinners costing from $4.00 per person and accommodations being very reasonable! But not only sea and beaches: the capital Port Louis is a colorful and lively place absolutely worth visiting, as well as the 7 cascades park and the Ebony Forest, the island's green lung.
