The best area to stay is Stuttgart-Mitte, which is the historic center, rich in attractions, services, and nightlife. If you are traveling with family, however, the only area within the center that we recommend is the area around Oberer Schlossgarten, which is greener and quieter! Alternatively, it's better to move to other neighborhoods, like Degerloch and Bad Cannstatt, the latter also offers somewhat more advantageous prices.
Another area for budget stays is Stuttgart-West, which is well connected to the historic center by the efficient public transport network!

Stuttgart-Mitte

If you are planning a trip to Stuttgart, especially if it's your first time visiting the city, the best neighborhood to stay is Stuttgart-Mitte! This area represents the historic center and is home to some of the city's main attractions, such as Schlossplatz, with the Old Castle and the New Palace, Markthalle Stuttgart, and the Stuttgart Opera.

It's an ideal area for everyone, but it is also one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city. Here, however, you can find luxury hotels as well as small guesthouses, B&Bs, and budget hostels, so it's important to book in advance. Additionally, The Mitte District is also the epicenter of nightlife. If you are traveling with family and still want to stay in the center, head towards Oberer Schlossgarten which is the greenest and quietest part of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood has several metro stations and the central train station, Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, but when staying here, you will mainly get around on foot.

The average prices in the neighborhood start from around $65.00 per night - compare the selection of the best accommodations on booking

Bad Cannstatt

To the north of Stuttgart-Mitte lies Bad Cannstatt, one of the most famous neighborhoods in the German city! This is because here you will find some of the most beloved attractions: the Wilhelma Zoo, the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and the Porsche Museum. After all the visits, you can relax for a few hours at the MineralBad spa. Besides the museums, this is the neighborhood of beer: it hosts the Oktoberfest!

This is an ideal neighborhood for those looking to save, given that the costs are lower than in the historic center. It's also an ideal area for families, with attractions and large parks for younger travelers. Services, hotels of various types, and many activities are also available!

While staying here, to reach the historic center you will have to take public transport: the reference point is the central station of Bad Cannstatt, with trains that lead directly to Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof (lines S1, S2, and S3, 3 min).

The average prices in the neighborhood start from around $60.00 per night - compare the selection of the best accommodations on booking

Stuttgart-West

To the west of Stuttgart-Mitte, we find the Stuttgart-West District, a less touristy area but rich in activities and immersed in nature. On the main streets, you'll find restaurants, shops, and pubs, very quiet and not crowded by tourists! Moreover, here you will find Schloss Solitude, one of the most charming places in the city!

This area is ideal for those seeking tranquility and for families, given the abundance of services, numerous accommodations, and many parks where one can relax and stroll! At the same time, this area is also recommended for those on a tighter budget, as it is possible to find good deals and lower prices compared to the historic center.

In this case as well, to reach the center you will necessarily need to use public transport! The area is served by several metro and train stations that can transport you to the center in just about ten minutes. To get to Schloss Solitude, however, you will need to take the bus (line 92, stop Solitude, 22 min).

Degerloch

Finally, to the south of the historic center lies the Degerloch district, completely immersed in greenery! Here, nature is lush, the houses elegant, and the parks are filled with playgrounds. Additionally, this area is home to the Stuttgart Fernsehturm, the Television Tower that offers a spectacular view of the surroundings!

This area is especially recommended for families, who will find plenty of tranquility here! Furthermore, the neighborhood can be easily explored by bike, thanks to numerous bike paths. The accommodations mainly consist of hotels and B&Bs, including family-run establishments.

And again, to reach the center you will need to use public transport: the area is served by the subway station Degerloch (lines U5, U6, and U12, 13 min). There are no train stations, so having a car might also be helpful if you are traveling with your own vehicle.
