5 - Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino

If you wish to visit some sites around the historic center of Peschiera, we recommend heading to the beautiful Sanctuary of the Madonna del Frassino, a lovely monumental church set in nature at the foot of the hills surrounding Lake Garda, accessible by a cypress-lined avenue.The sanctuary was built between 1511 and 1514 at the site where, on May 11, 1510, the Madonna appeared to farmer Bartolomeo Broglia. Today, the sanctuary is looked after by the Franciscan Friars and is a pilgrimage destination. Start this day in Peschiera del Garda in its wonderful historic center, enclosed within the ancient fortress and its walls. Begin your day at Caffè Centrale - La Zattera for breakfast and then stroll through the streets of the center. You can also take a boat tour around the Venetian Fortress.
