Areas to avoid: there are no areas to avoid, Olbia is small and safe. If you want to stay directly by the sea, it's better to move away from the historic center, which does not have beaches accessible on foot as it consists of the port area.
Olbia is not a large place, so it's also very easy to find the area most suitable for your stay. Certainly, Olbia City Center is one of the best areas to stay: you will find yourself in the historic center of the city, just a few steps from the train station and the port, with the main attractions close to each other. It is also the nightlife area, which concentrates primarily along Corso Umberto I, so it is mainly recommended for young people.
If you want some relaxation or to stay near the sea, then we recommend considering the Pittulongu area. This is the symbol beach of the city, and nearby you can find several hotels and accommodations.
Lastly, if you want to save money, certainly one of the most recommended areas is Marina di Olbia, the neighborhood that develops between the airport and the marina of Olbia. Here, you will also be not far from other beaches on the southern coast of Olbia, but you will be a bit decentralized. Consider it especially if you have a car.

Olbia City Center
Olbia City Center is definitely one of the most recommended areas to stay, especially if you are visiting Olbia for the first time and do not have a car. The center extends from the train station to the beautiful waterfront area and here you can find some of the main attractions of the city, such as the Olbia Archaeological Museum and the Church of San Paolo Apostolo.
Certainly, the center is recommended for those staying in Olbia for the first time, but above all, it is recommended for young people: this is indeed the center of Olbia's nightlife, which unfolds mainly along Corso Umberto I.
By staying here, you can easily move around on foot or by public transportation: on one side you can reach the station on foot, and if you want to get to the beach, you can take the Bus Line 40 Beaches Express, which connects the center directly to Pittulongu beach.

Marina di Olbia
Marina di Olbia is the area that develops near the marina and extends from the coast to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. There are no particular attractions here, but the area is very quiet, with several amenities like large shopping centers, such as the Olbia Mare Shopping Center, and boat excursions depart from the port, like the boat tour to observe dolphins near Figarolo.
The area, being a bit decentralized and not hosting attractions, certainly has more affordable prices compared to the center or the Pittulongu area, making it ideal for those looking to save money. The location could be a bit inconvenient, so it is also recommended mainly for those who already have a car.
From Marina di Olbia, you will necessarily need to move by car, or in some cases by public transport. The historic center is a 10-minute drive away, or 15 minutes by bus, while Pittulongu is a 15-minute drive away.

Pittulongu
Pittulongu is a district of Olbia and is definitely the most known beach of the city. It can be easily reached from the center by direct bus and presents itself as a stretch of golden sand in a crescent shape, crystal-clear sea, and a splendid view of the Gulf of Olbia.
The area is relatively quiet, making it an ideal solution for families and for those who want to stay near the sea and the beach. The seabed is also shallow and gradually drops, perfect for little ones. You will also find stretches of free beach as well as equipped ones with all the comforts.
