Where is it located?

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a natural area located in the caldera of the namesake volcano situated in the Serengeti plains, northwest of the capital city Arusha and east of the Serengeti National Park. The crater, at an altitude of 2,200 meters, is 16 km in diameter and covers a total area of 265 square kilometers. The area also includes two smaller craters, Olmoti and Empakaai, as well as the archaeological site of Olduvai Gorge.

Once you land in Arusha, you can reach the area by traveling approximately 3 hours on the paved road B144 -A104, which is 146 km long.
