Best Things to Do:

Where to Go at Night: Streets, Areas, and Neighborhoods

Cagliari is a vibrant city, full of things to do and see, with a cuisine waiting to be discovered and also a lively nightlife that focuses mainly in the historic center. In the beautiful season, one of the landmarks is the wonderful Poetto beach, not far from the center. Here are all our tips to make the most of Cagliari's nightlife.

Cagliari is a lively city, both during the day and at night. The hot spot for nightlife year-round is the historic center: here you can find the districts of Castello, the true heart of the city, next to Marina, which is the port area. Consider the Stampace district as well, with several small bars. By staying here, you can easily walk between the various venues. In the summer, nightlife also concentrates at Poetto, a neighborhood where the famous beach of the same name is located. Here, along the promenade that stretches for several kilometers, there are venues of every kind, from cocktail bars to beach clubs, open during the day with restaurant service and rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, and at night with music and cocktails. The nightlife starts with an aperitif, especially in the venues in the center, where you can enjoy a good glass of Sardinian wine. Keep in mind that everything happens late: especially in the summer, it's very common to have dinner even after 9:00 PM. For example, nightclubs open at midnight, but they fill up around 1:00 AM, remaining open until 5:30/6:00 AM.

Castello and Marina

Castello and Marina represent the heart of the historic center. They are adjacent to each other, separated by the famous Bastione di Saint Remy, one of the symbols of Cagliari. They are also two of the best neighborhoods to stay. Moreover, by staying here you can walk around the entire historic center. In Castello and Marina, you will find venues of every kind: from cocktail bars to traditional Sardinian trattorias, to places with live music. In particular, the port area of Marina becomes very lively especially in the summer, with places to stop for an aperitif at sunset. The area attracts people of all ages: locals and tourists: it is one of the best places to immerse yourself in Sardinian nightlife. There are no real nightclubs here, for those you'll need to head inland. The cult venues in the area are the renowned Caffè de Candia and Libarium Nostrum. For a quieter evening, we recommend Moonshine and Spirits Boutique Cagliari for an aperitif or a romantic dinner at Sabores Bottega e Cucina.

Stampace

Stampace is located a short distance from the central Castello district and was once the medieval working-class neighborhood of Cagliari. Today, you can get lost in its characteristic alleys and colorful houses. In addition to being a very affordable area to stay, it is also easily accessible on foot, allowing you to move around peacefully even at night. The Roman Amphitheater of Cagliari is also located here, used for several years to host summer concerts, but unfortunately, it is currently closed to the public for renovations due to accessibility issues.Stampace not only hosts part of the celebrations for Sant'Efisio from May 1 to 4 but is also one of the centers of nightlife: however, it hosts a relaxed and tranquil scene, with cocktail bars where you can drink something in company and venues with historical charm, especially around Piazza Yenne. The cult venues in the area are the renowned Jazzino and Fabrik. For those leaning more towards alternative and live music venues, we recommend Linea Notturna. For a quieter evening, we suggest Al Merlo Parlante for an aperitif or a romantic dinner at White Stone. If you are going for dinner, opt for Old Square Irish Pub that also offers live music.

Poetto

Poetto is the famous district that develops around the famous beach, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia. An excellent area to stay in during the summer, it is somewhat distant from the center, which is connected by public transport with frequent routes between Piazza Matteotti and the beach (line PQ or PF, 35 min). By staying here, you can move around on foot.In the summer, Poetto becomes one of the centers of nightlife. During the day you can enjoy the beach, sunbathe, engage in water sports, or walk along the promenade, when the sun begins to set you can enjoy a cocktail with a sea view, before stopping in one of the beach clubs along the beach that offer not only dining options but also live music, parties, and cocktails. The area is hugely popular with young people but you'll find people of all ages. The cult venues in the area are the renowned Twist Beach Club and Lido. For those leaning more towards alternative and live music venues, we recommend Bflat Jazz Club and Le Palmette Beach Club. For a quieter evening, we suggest Lanterna Rossa for an aperitif or a romantic dinner at Tagoo Beach Club.
